In one “Treehouse of Terror” episode of The Simpsons (1988) Homer accidentally constructs a faux-time machine toaster, which is very, very easy to activate.
One time he travels to the era of the Dinosaurs. While moving backwards on his heels he trips and falls backwards, sitting on …the Marine Raider vanity fossil.
How old was that fossile? About 160 million years. Back then God made a thing and said “There. My saltwater animalia for all time. Unless you are eaten.”
Yes, it was that old. Those two Marines wondered what to do with it. They would not outlive it.
The Marine Corps. Kept getting assigned to watch it. Closer. What did they learn? It has been alive so long it did not care. About anything. Place it where you may. Flight deck. O2 level. Gear locker.
The two Marine Raiders, 50 years later, the beast inbetween their lazy boys, decided to give it to The Simpsons, under the stipulation that it must be killed.
“Squish!”
Yes! The animal was animated precisely as it appeared in life. Those two men gave it to the Foley artists for just that scene. It was drawn exacltly as it appeared. This would have been 50 years after the campaign. Marines did it! For many reasons!
It is imperative that we locate a copy of that TV episode and play the “Squish,” sound effect before the opposition changes it! The percussive effects may give us continuity.
Woot!
Always Faithful! Always Forward!
